Ju Pereira
Dutch born in Brazil visual artist with a background in psychology, pedagogy and art.
I combine my passion for traveling and photography with my background working on cultural diversity, creating pictures of diverse people and places, many of them reflected on mirrors, glass or water.
A camera has been like a window through which I sees and try to influence the world around me.Since my teen years I have been experimenting with different materials and forms of art expression, including: lithography, wood engraving, porcelain painting, leather, ceramics, watercolors, and yes, photography. Dutch born Brazilian, I studied fine arts in my home country and after moving to The Netherlands I studied street, portrait, food and still life photography mainly at the Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam (FOAM), Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. In the 90s I studied photography with American photographer Bonnie Josephson and more recently had tutorial with Dutch photographer Robert Goddyn.
In addition to my own visual work, since the pandemic, I have been curating exhibitions for other artists.
I have been doing exhibitions in the following countries: Belgium, Brazil, England, France, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Portugal and The Netherlands. Besides two books on leadership & culture written with my partner, I published the photography books:
- Garopaba Distorted
- Magic Sea
- Netherlands Upside Down
- “Oranje” Celebration. The Dutch King’s and Queen’s Day
- São Paulo Mirrors. Hidden beauty of a concrete jungle
- See What the Dutch Say
